Bringing Your Smile Back

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, and you’re not able to get out of the way. Many people have had their smiles damaged by things that were outside of their control. You may have been in a car accident that damaged your teeth. You may have fallen at work. You may have been injured while playing a sport that you love, or you may have put off dental exams and cleanings like many of us do. Whatever the reason, Duffield Dentistry is able to help repair and restore your smile.

We do routine fillings, crowns. The crowns actually today are amazing because they're all porcelain crowns. The old porcelain infused to metal crown used to have a certain opaqueness and people would say, “It looks like Chiclets.” Now crowns looks so real that even dentists sometimes are fooled. It looks so much like a natural tooth. Even on the x-ray it looks like a natural tooth. So that's one advance of dentistry that's really helped us with our cosmetic work.

Restorative Dentistry From Duffield Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is some of our most rewarding work. The look of someone who has just gotten their smile back is priceless. Being able to give the gift of confidence never gets old.

Some of the things that we can do for you are:

Tooth Fillings – This option can repair teeth that have been damaged by a cavity, or tooth decay. We use a tooth-colored resin instead of the more common metal filling option. This keeps the filling from being overly visible. This resin is just as effective as the metal alternative.

Root Canal – Your tooth may require a root canal to restore it to full function. Dr. Duffield will remove the inner nerves and surrounding material when you have an infection in that area. This will keep you safe from abscesses and will alleviate any tooth pain you may have been feeling. Don’t worry, root canals are not painful. Dr. Duffield will go over all of the sedation options with you before the procedure.

Dental Crowns – Dental Crowns are appropriate for a number of situations. A dental crown is a cap that is created to go over top of your damaged tooth. A dental crown may be used after a root canal as well as for cracked or broken teeth. Sometimes, the damage to your tooth is limited to the surface. In those cases, Dr. Duffield may suggest a veneer instead of a dental crown.

Dental Bridges – This type of restoration is used to replace missing teeth. There are three primary types of dental bridges:

  • Traditional bridge – This is the standard bridge made of two crowns with a replacement tooth in between. The replacement tooth is technically called a pontic. This type of bridge anchors to natural teeth on either side of the gap.
  • Cantilever bridge – This bridge is for situations where there is only one tooth to anchor the bridge. This is not used very often.
  • Maryland bridge – This type of bridge has wings on each side that are bonded to the backside of your teeth.

Dental Implants – Implant dentistry is an option that allows you the freedom to restore the full function and look of your smile. Dr. Duffield will gently place the small, titanium implant into your jaw. The implant will act just like a natural tooth root, giving you the same feel and stability that you enjoyed with your actual teeth. A replacement tooth will be manufactured specifically for you. Once it is ready, Dr. Duffield will gently secure the tooth onto the dental implants to fill out your new smile. There are several specific options that we will go over with you.

Dentures – Dentures are more commonly referred to as false teeth. They are a new arch or set of teeth constructed to replace the teeth you have lost. This option will completely remake your smile, and with our expertise, they will look just like your natural teeth to those around you. You will need to get used to wearing them, but this won’t take long at all. They should be brushed and cleaned each day, just like real teeth.
