I can think of a patient, in particular, he had ground his teeth down to the point where both the top teeth and the lower teeth were one half of what he was born with. So when you looked at him, you could tell a tremendous amount of wear. So full mouth rehabilitation for him involved full crowns on top, full crowns on the bottom. And we were able to stage it because that’s fairly expensive. So we were able to stage it such that we spaced it out over a couple of years.
And his end result was life changing for him. So that’s something that, unfortunately, the only way to treat that is to replace the tooth. And you can’t do it just on one arch because it would just wear the other arch. So, that entails both arches being done. But if you can see your way to it, you can then save your teeth for the rest of your life. Instead of, his other option probably would have been dentures. So, this way we’re able to save his teeth.
Dr. Duffield at Duffield Dentistry has, in the course of his dental career, replaced every tooth in the human mouth! When it comes to a full-mouth reconstruction, don’t settle for anyone but our expert. Call us today at (248) 721-4502 to schedule your consultation.
Enjoy A Variety Of Benefits
A full-mouth reconstruction is a combination of services designed to restore your mouth’s full ability to talk, chew, smile, and laugh. If you have been unable to chew properly or have been embarrassed by missing or decayed teeth, this may be the perfect solution for you.
You’ll experience more than just a new smile. You’ll get:
- A more pronounced level of self-worth as you develop pride in your appearance
- A more complex diet with better nutrition as you’re able to eat a wider variety of food
- A more articulate way of speaking as you’re able to pronounce words more clearly
- A more youthful appearance as your face has better structural support
My teeth had kind of gotten … they had been wearing out. I’d had acid reflux, and I had a different dentist who, nice guy, but he knew that he could only do so much with it. We’d patched to them to the point where they just weren’t holding up anymore.
We pretty much started over, and everything on the top is capped. The bottom has got some caps, but he was able to repair some of the bottom. The other thing that he did that I certainly notice, it doesn’t have anything to do with the smile, was restored the bite, so that everything fits together right. It had gotten to the point where, no matter what, there was always one tooth that was high, or something else. Comfort-wise, I do notice it a little bit when I sleep, that everything fits together. I don’t get any of the sore jaw type things. That was actually a big … before we even got into any of the cosmetic stuff, that was probably the bulk of the early work, was just getting the bite restored and having everything fit together right.
You can tell he’s a perfectionist. He would say, “How does it feel? Is it good?” I’d be good, and then he’d want to check a few more things. You know, at the end, I think that all paid off. It’s pleasant, pleasant, certainly cares about getting everything right and how you feel about what he’s doing. It was a good experience for me.
