What is the best tooth replacement option?
A:
The best tooth replacement option depends entirely on your specific situation. Depending on your needs, we can help you find the best solution for you. Whether you are interested in dental implants, removable dentures, or a fixed bridge, we have you covered.
-
How can you ensure I’m comfortable during my treatment?
A:
In addition to modern technology, local anesthetics, and gentle techniques, we offer dental sedation to ensure that you will be as comfortable as possible during your visit. If you are only a little nervous, nitrous oxide may be all you need to feel at ease. If you are quite a bit nervous or even fearful (or are undergoing a long or complicated procedure), we also offer oral conscious sedation.
-
Will Invisalign work for me?
A:
If you have mild to moderate misalignment or bite problems, Invisalign could be the solution for you! However, if you have severe malocclusion or other major orthodontic issues, Invisalign may not be the best option. The only way to know for sure, however, is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Duffield or Dr. Grewal. We can help you determine whether Invisalign or another orthodontic solution is best for your specific situation.
-
Does OTC teeth whitening work?
A:
There are many teeth whitening kits you can buy over the counter. While they do work, the whitening agent must be diluted a lot to be sold without a prescription. Instead of having to use them repeatedly to get the look you want, call us today to get cosmetic dentistry treatments. You can choose between custom whitening trays and prescription-strength Crest Whitestrips. Both have the professional-strength whitening agents that only dentists can provide.
-
How often should I see you for dental exams?
A:
We recommend visiting our office for an exam and cleaning every six months. This allows us to regularly remove bacteria-filled plaque buildup from your teeth. Routine professional cleanings help keep your mouth free of cavities and gum disease. It also gives our dentists an opportunity to identify and treat small issues before they can become big problems.
-
When should I schedule my child’s first dental appointment?
A:
At Duffield Dentistry we recommend bringing your child to our office for their first appointment at age 3. Our team will ensure both you and your child are comfortable, to help encourage a lifelong positive attitude toward dental visits. We will also teach your child to care for their teeth and answer all of your questions. Promoting good oral hygiene habits from an early age ensures your child will enjoy great dental health.
-
Should I worry about bleeding gums?
A:
Since gums that bleed sometimes do so only occasionally, people have a tendency to ignore them. This is a bad idea, since bleeding gums are a sign of gum disease. In its early stages, we can easily treat gum disease with a two-part deep cleaning treatment called scaling and root planing. Left untreated, gum disease can cause serious problems including tooth and bone loss.

How long does TMJ treatment take?
A:
We understand you want to end the pain caused by a TMJ disorder as soon as you can. The truth is that treatment can take weeks or months depending on the severity of your situation and what needs to be done. For most patients, an oral appliance is the perfect solution in and of itself. For others, orthodontics or restorations may be needed to realign teeth to reduce grinding for the long term.
