What is a full-mouth reconstruction? How can it help me?

A full-mouth reconstruction is a service (or rather, combination of services) that is designed to restore your mouth’s full ability to talk, chew, smile, and laugh once again. If you have been unable to chew properly or have been embarrassed to smile or laugh due to missing or decayed teeth, this may be the perfect solution for you. Our dental team would love to help you regain a smile you can be proud of.

I can think of a patient, in particular, he had ground his teeth down to the point where both the top teeth and the lower teeth were one half of what he was born with. So when you looked at him, you could tell a tremendous amount of wear. So full mouth rehabilitation for him involved full crowns on top, full crowns on the bottom. And we were able to stage it because that's fairly expensive. So we were able to stage it such that we spaced it out over a couple of years.

And his end result was life changing for him. So that's something that, unfortunately, the only way to treat that is to replace the tooth. And you can't do it just on one arch because it would just wear the other arch. So, that entails both arches being done. But if you can see your way to it, you can then save your teeth for the rest of your life. Instead of, his other option probably would have been dentures. So, this way we're able to save his teeth.

What is the full-mouth reconstruction process like?

The full-mouth reconstruction process is actually pretty straightforward. The first step is to schedule your consultation. At this consultation, we will be able to examine your situation and get a good idea of how we can help you. We can also discuss what kind of results you would personally like to see. This examination and discussion will help us determine which restorative dentistry options would be best for you.

Together, we will create a treatment plan and then schedule your procedures. This part of the process will be unique to your situation. Your procedures could be completed in just one visit, or over a period of a few months. Regardless, we will help you make sure the process is completely comfortable and stress-free.

Once your procedures are complete, you will be able to get back to your life! Your new smile will help you eat, talk, laugh, and smile well once again!

My teeth had kind of gotten ... they had been wearing out. I'd had acid reflux, and I had a different dentist who, nice guy, but he knew that he could only do so much with it. We'd patched to them to the point where they just weren't holding up anymore.

We pretty much started over, and everything on the top is capped. The bottom has got some caps, but he was able to repair some of the bottom. The other thing that he did that I certainly notice, it doesn't have anything to do with the smile, was restored the bite, so that everything fits together right. It had gotten to the point where, no matter what, there was always one tooth that was high, or something else. Comfort-wise, I do notice it a little bit when I sleep, that everything fits together. I don't get any of the sore jaw type things. That was actually a big ... before we even got into any of the cosmetic stuff, that was probably the bulk of the early work, was just getting the bite restored and having everything fit together right.

You can tell he's a perfectionist. He would say, “How does it feel? Is it good?” I'd be good, and then he'd want to check a few more things. You know, at the end, I think that all paid off. It's pleasant, pleasant, certainly cares about getting everything right and how you feel about what he's doing. It was a good experience for me.
