Building The Smile Of Your Dreams

A smile is something that cannot be faked. Subtle differences between your real smile and a smile that is not truly genuine are noticeable to those around you. Being able to give someone a true smile should never be a luxury.

It used to be that dentures or dental bridges were your only options when it came to replacing missing teeth. The issue with these options is that they often look and feel artificial. Now, dental implants allow you to have the look, feel, and function of real teeth even after they are gone.

Through the wonder of dental implants, Duffield Dentistry is able to give you the smile of your dreams. Dr. Lawrence Duffield is committed to helping you smile freely and live your life with confidence.

Dental implants are the wave of, not the future, the wave of today. People ... a lot more people are getting implants today. If you lose a tooth, before you used to have a bridge done, and then you would have to shave down the tooth on either side of it, and do a bridge. If something happened to one of those two teeth, you've got three teeth that are in jeopardy. An implant, when you lose a tooth, a metal titanium cylinder is placed into the bone and then that acts as the root of the tooth. When that fuses to the bone, you put a crown on top of that. Then that tooth is a standalone tooth and you don't have to touch the two adjacent teeth, and they last a long time.

I lost a tooth when I was in college. I have an implant in my mouth, and I think it's been there for probably about 25 years and it's not been touched. It's a great longevity way to replace a tooth if you lose a tooth.

I just had a patient today, and I had done an implant on him, and he said,“Yeah, the implant over here is doing fine.” Well, the implant was over here. He had not even .... I said,“That's the beauty of an implant.” I said, “That's a great compliment.” You don't even remember where the implant is, it just becomes part of your mouth. It's like your own natural tooth.

What To Know About Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent solution to the problem of missing or severely damaged teeth. Dentures are not the only choice when it comes to replacing missing teeth. With implants, you will gain the look and function of real teeth.

A dental implant replaces a missing or damaged tooth with a new one. Dr. Duffield will gently insert the implant into your jawbone to anchor the new tooth that will attach to it. This new tooth will last for many years or, with proper care, even the rest of your life.

Back when I was about nine or 10 years old, I chipped my front tooth in half, and so I had had a bridge, that was like 25 years old and just because it was so ole, I had some receding gums and you could see some of the metal that the porcelain was on. SO it was awful. And I had gone to other dentists, that had given me quotes to do something. I had to go to like three different specialists to get everything done and I came here and he was like, “We're just gonna do this. This is gonna look fine.”

I didn't have to get any gum stuff done, I didn't have to get a bunch of other stuff done. He was just like, “We'll just make it so that the tooth is a little bit bigger, it's not gonna look funky, it's gonna look fine.” That's what he did. I did have to get an implant, and then I also got two crowns done. It was fantastic. I was so pleased, and I got so many compliments about how it looked, and everybody just loved it. This is the only person that I would ever refer anybody to, based on my own experiences. I would trust him to treat them just the same as he has treated me.

Advantages Of Implants

  • Less mess – There is no mess with dental implants like there is with removable dentures. The implant is securely placed into your jawbone. There is no need for denture adhesives to keep them in place.
  • Eating freely – Dental implants function just like your real teeth. This means that you can eat the food you want to eat. Dentures have the possibility of sliding around, which can make eating certain foods an unwelcomed chore.
  • Durability – You will enjoy amazing durability with dental implants. Implants have a longer lifespan than dentures. With proper care, it is not uncommon for your dental implants to last you for the rest of your life.
  • Looking and feeling better – Dental implants will make you look and feel better because they act like your real teeth. They are a part of you, and there is no worry about them moving or getting out of place. You can have the confidence that when you smile, people are seeing the real you.
  • Effectiveness – One reason that implants have become so popular is that they have an amazing success rate when it comes to replacing missing teeth: over 98 percent!
