Frequently Asked Questions

Below we have answered some of the questions we most commonly hear regarding our services. Feel free to check them out. If you have any additional questions or concerns, we will be happy to answer them!

Q: What is the best tooth replacement option?
A:

The best tooth replacement option depends entirely on your specific situation. Depending on your needs, we can help you find the best solution for you. Whether you are interested in dental implants, removable dentures, or a simple fixed bridge, we have you covered. Learn more about these tooth replacement options by visiting our page on restorative dentistry.

Q: How can you ensure that I am comfortable during my treatment?
A:

In addition to modern technology, local anesthetics, and gentle techniques, we offer dental sedation to ensure that you will be as comfortable as possible during your visit. If you are only a little nervous, nitrous oxide may be all you need to feel at ease. If you are quite a bit nervous or even fearful (or are undergoing a long or complicated procedure), we also offer oral conscious sedation. You can learn more about sedation dentistry and other ways we can help you feel at home by visiting our page on relieving dental anxiety.

Q: Will Invisalign work for me?
A:

If you have mild to moderate misalignment or bite problems, Invisalign could be the solution for you! However, if you have severe malocclusion or other major orthodontic issues, Invisalign may not be the best option. The only way to know for sure, however, is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Duffield or Dr. Grewal. We can help you determine whether Invisalign or another orthodontic solution is best for your specific situation.

Q: Does Duffield Dentistry offer wisdom teeth extractions?
A:

We do! While many dental offices refer wisdom teeth patients (and patients with other oral surgery needs) to a specialist, our team is specifically trained to offer these services right here in our Royal Oak, MI dental office. To learn more about our oral surgery offerings, please visit our Oral Surgery page.

Q: How can I schedule an appointment?
A:

Making an appointment at Duffield Dentistry is easy. You can reach our office by calling 248-721-4502. You can also send us a message using our online contact form. Either way, our team will be happy to help you find a date and time that works well with your personal schedule. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Q: Does OTC Teeth Whitening Work?
A:

There are many teeth whitening kits you can buy over the counter. While they do work, the whitening agent must be diluted a lot to be sold without a prescription. Instead of having to use them repeatedly to get the look you want, call us today to get cosmetic dentistry treatments. You can choose between custom whitening trays and prescription-strength Crest Whitestrips. Both have the professional-strength whitening agent that only dentists can provide.

Q: Are root canals as painful as I’ve heard?
A:

The concept that root canals are very painful is a big myth. In reality, getting a root canal is no more painful than getting a filling. Dr. Duffield is highly trained. Combined with pain management options, your root canal can be quite comfortable. More importantly, a root canal can remove painful infections from inside a tooth. Yes, root canals actually relieve pain.
